Lombok - Gili Trawangan (Day 1)

Half an hour till midnight but it's okay coz I'm not working tomorrow!!!! :D

Hey Guys! I'm back from my short but fun vacation! And I've tons of pictures to share with you guys. So I went to Lombok, Indonesia a few days ago with my siblings (minus my youngest brother) and my sister's fiancee. We stayed at Gili Trawangan's Hotel Ombak Sunset  for 2 nights and 1 night at Lombok's Puri Mas Resort & Spa.

Like I said earlier, I've tons of pictures to share so I'm going to post based on our days. First post, Day 1 at Gili Trawangan!

Our flight was at 8:35 am in the morning. I hate morning flight! Well, to be exact, I hate flying! I've motion sickness. I must rely on pills to avoid throwing up. Not cool.

PS: I only looked happy for the picture lol

After almost 2 1/2 hours on flight, here we are!

Now, we didn't have a tour guide for this trip. We only booked flight tickets and hotels in advanced. So here are some tips for you guys out there. Don't take the airport cab! Too expensive! Ask around and it might save you a lot of $$$. We got ours at IDR400,000 (around RM130) from the airport to the harbor (where the boats are to get to Gilis). It takes 2 hours to get to the harbor, so we asked the driver, Erwin a good place to eat where they serves authentic Lombok/Indonesia's food. So he took us here.

Finally, got my first taste on Teh Botol!

The famous Ayam Taliwang Bakar. Not bad.

Bebalung. Not sure what it was but it was alright.

Plecing Terung. I liked this was coz it's spicy and it's eggplant! I loveeee eggplants!

Bebalung Kangkung.

Tauhu.

Tempe

Total bill was IDR349,000, around RM108. We were a little bit shocked at first coz we think it was a bit pricey but we let it passed considered it was our first meal and we were starving lol

Then, straight to the harbor! Before that, we stopped for awhile on our way to take a few photos.

You can actually see the 3 islands from here (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, Gili Air)

We were planning on chattered the public boat coz it's so much cheaper. But then Erwin was telling us that we have to wait at least 45 minutes for the boat and another 30 minutes to get to the island. Not to mentioned there were cases where the boat sank because of overloading/weight. Not sure it was a gimmick or what, but we picked speedboat to save time.

They charged us at IDR800,000 for round trip.

It took us only 15 minutes and finally we landed on the island! The last time I saw crystal clear water was in Bali! We were at awe! It was so beautiful and clean!

To get to Ombak Sunset, we had to chartered a horse cart because it was quite far. Yes, we spent a lot on transportation itself. Sigh. Cost: IDR75,000/per horse cart.

Checking into our room with welcome drinks!

The bathroom is huge!

We settled down and everything. Around 9pm we headed out to the night market. At first we decided to walk coz we thought it wasn't that far, then after 5 minutes of walking someone asked us if we're interested to rent bicycles. Why not? IDR100,000 for 4 bicycles for 24 hours. Not bad if compared to the one that the hotel offered us.

It was fun coz you hear nothing but the sound of the wave coming from the ocean along the way. After 20 minutes, we arrived at the night market. It was happening, people holding bottle of beers walking around, and the music was really loud. People partying everywhere!

We were so tired after the 20 minutes, decided to have dessert before dinner.

IDR20,000 per scoop!

I had Nutella creepe! Duh!

The only food photo I took because I didn't ordered anything. And this fried squid is quite pricey. But again, everything is pricey because you're a tourist.

That was the end of our first day!
Check out the video I've made for this trip!

Stay tuned for more!
xoxo
